Softaculous is a Hostgator page that they put up when you ask them to install Joomla. That is why I refer to it. So any Hostgator customer would use that page to install Joomla.
If you want to use a non-supported, non-recommended method to install (or update Joomla) by using Softaculous then use a non-supported, non-recommended method. If that method works then that's great. If you encounted problems down the track then we can't help you; you need to refer your questions about future website problems involving the use of Joomla installed (or updated) via Softaculous to your webhosting provider.

In short, I say again, those of us who have been using Joomla for a long period of time, avoid third-party installers such as Softaculous and the like. I'm happy for you to disagree but my view is unchanged. 8)
I dont "want to use" softaculous. I was pointing out that it is an integral part Joomla setup on a hosting provider.
