General Questions/New to Joomla! 4.x • Using the API to access a user by username or email

I want to use the API to 'PATCH' a user (for example to update the email) from outside J!.
I know their email and username but I don't know the J! user id.

I suppose could GET all the users and parse the data to find what I want but that seems very complex and inefficient?

Any ideas?
